Job summary

Advance TRS is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role in delivering complex infrastructure projects, with responsibilities spanning from design through to site delivery. You will provide technical direction, oversee a small engineering team, and ensure all solutions meet safety and quality standards.

The role suits nuclear or major infrastructure backgrounds and requires strong governance and stakeholder engagement. Hybrid working in Warrington with Inside IR35.

Qualifications

• Eligible to obtain SC clearance or equivalent security status.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects within a highly regulated environment. Working as the civil engineering lead, you will provide technical direction, support project delivery teams, and ensure engineering solutions are developed and delivered in line with industry, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering scope on major infrastructure projects from design through to delivery.
• Provide technical oversight, guidance, and mentoring to a small team of engineers and technicians.
• Review and approve designs, calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and governance processes.
• Work collaboratively with clients, contractors, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support construction and commissioning activities through site visits and technical input where required.

Our client is looking to hire 1 person, but they are considering 2 different profiles:

Profile 1 – Nuclear background

• Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE or equivalent) – consideration will be given to candidates without chartership if they have significant relevant experience
• The role includes involvement in substation works, cable route infrastructure, and other associated civil engineering projects.
• Strong Prior civil design experience within the nuclear sector.
• Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership and engineering assurance.
• Strong understanding of design review, governance, and quality control processes.
• Eligible to obtain SC Clearance.

Profile 2 – Major Infrastructure Experience

• Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE or equivalent) – consideration will be given to candidates without chartership if they have significant relevant experience
• Proven track record delivering large and complex infrastructure schemes.
• Experience gained on major projects within sectors such as power, nuclear, rail, highways, or other significant infrastructure engineering programmes.
• Comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
