Job Description:

Our client, a Local Authority based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Senior Childcare Lawyer on a locum basis for 4-months initially.

The role offers remote working with attendance required at hearings in the Manchester Courts, and the rate is in the region of £55 p/hour UMB.

The team have capacity for full-time hours, however part-time and flexible options will be considered.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Managing a caseload of complex legal work relating to public and private children’s law, including conducting and managing a caseload of legal applications and providing advice to the client group
• Taking responsibility for legal safeguarding and planning for children, with political sensitivity in relation to advising on the same
• Handling own advocacy, including representing the Council in contested proceedings
• Acting as a mentor to a designated Lawyer and/or Legal Officer
• Demonstrating a knowledge of wider local government law and issues

Working hours:

• 35 hours per week
• Monday – Friday
