The Hartford has an in-house remote opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney, Workers' Compensation, handling cases in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. This role involves working remotely with direct contact with Claims Professionals, fostering personal growth and excellent customer service. Ideal for an experienced attorney dedicated to law and customer service.

Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct legal research, and develop defense strategies.
  2. Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs independently.
  3. Communicate effectively with clients, claims, courts, witnesses, and counsel.
  4. Handle case dispositions efficiently and promptly.
  5. Present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, and arbitrations.
  6. Research, draft, and argue appellate briefs.
  7. Attend continuing legal education seminars.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years handling Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • Additional licensure in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine is a plus.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new software.

Note: This is a remote position, but travel within Rhode Island and Massachusetts may be required.

Internet requirements include high-speed broadband with specified speeds and a wired connection.

Compensation:

The annual base pay ranges from $128,000 to $192,000, based on market analysis and individual performance. Compensation includes other rewards such as bonuses and incentives.
