Job description

Our client, a Local Authority based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Senior Childcare Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 4-month period.

Role Details

• Remote working with attendance at hearings in Manchester Courts
• Rate: approximately £55 per hour UMB
• Full-time hours available; part-time and flexible options considered

Responsibilities

• Managing complex legal caseloads related to public and private children’s law, including legal applications and client advice
• Providing legal safeguarding and planning advice for children, with political sensitivity
• Representing the Council in contested proceedings through own advocacy
• Mentoring designated Lawyers and Legal Officers
• Demonstrating knowledge of wider local government law and issues

Working Hours

• 35 hours per week
• Monday to Friday
