Job summary

AIG is seeking a Senior Catastrophe Research Analyst to join the Catastrophe Research & Validation Team. You will lead research on catastrophe risk, collaborate with global and external teams, and drive the review and validation of peril region models, contributing to industry-leading analytics and model development across the organisation.

You will work closely with Head of Catastrophe Research & Validation and other leaders to implement standardised risk views and to support climate-change

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Climate Science, Natural Hazards, Applied Statistics, or related field.
• 3+ years of catastrophe research or model development experience; RMS experience preferred.
• Excellent understanding of catastrophe modelling science; hands-on reviews and validation experience.
• Knowledge of catastrophe models, strengths/weaknesses, and expertise in one or more peril regions.
• Understanding of climate change and its impact on insurance; analytics and thought leadership interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovative research on catastrophe risk, focusing on material peril regions for AIG.
• Support development of standardised risk views and best practices.
• Oversee end-to-end catastrophe model evaluation; implement AIG’s View of Risk.
• Validate new and existing vendor models; propose adjustments to vendor views.
• Assist with model changes and upgrades; support climate-change impact assessments.
• Collaborate with Risk Engineering, Actuarial, Underwriting, and ERM to share insights.
• Partner with Data Office on strategic data initiatives and vendor reviews.
