Job summary

Cpl Healthcare is hiring a Senior Support Worker to join complex care services across England. You will provide hands-on support, lead shifts, and ensure care plans, PBS strategies, safeguarding, and behavioural support are implemented consistently.

The role emphasizes guiding colleagues during shifts, managing behaviours that challenge, and ensuring safe, dignified, person-centred care. Excellent leadership and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Strong understanding of behavioural management and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
• Experience managing incidents involving physical aggression and significant behavioural escalation.
• Demonstrable experience using effective de-escalation techniques.
• Experience implementing risk assessments, behavioural support plans, and complex care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual care plans.
• Act as a senior member of the team, providing guidance and support to Support Workers during shifts.
• Assist with the effective coordination of staff working within 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 care arrangements.
• Identify early warning signs of behavioural escalation and implement preventative strategies.
• Lead and support staff during incidents involving aggression, self-injury or other high-risk situations.
• Promote de-escalation techniques and least restrictive practices at all times.
• Ensure any authorised physical intervention is carried out safely and in accordance with care plans and policies.
• Monitor staff practice and challenge unsafe or inconsistent approaches.
• Support post-incident reviews, debriefs, and learning opportunities.
• Complete and oversee accurate incident reports, behavioural observations, and daily records.
• Assist with the induction, mentoring, and development of new team members.
• Escalate significant concerns to management and relevant professionals.
• Promote dignity, independence, choice, and inclusion for all individuals.
