Job summary

CPL Healthcare is recruiting experienced Senior Support Workers to join complex care services across England. These hands-on roles support individuals with complex needs in high-acuity packages, with staffing levels at 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1, and include shift leadership responsibilities.

You will ensure care plans, risk assessments, PBS strategies, safeguarding procedures and behavioural support plans are applied consistently while guiding colleagues.

Qualifications

• Significant experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience within high-acuity care at 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 staffing levels.
• Strong understanding of PBS.
• Experience managing incidents involving physical aggression and significant behavioural escalation.
• Demonstrable experience using effective de-escalation techniques.
• Experience implementing risk assessments, behavioural support plans, and complex care plans.
• Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising other care staff.
• Good knowledge of safeguarding, DoLS, incident management, and least restrictive practice.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual care plans.
• Act as a senior member of the team, providing guidance and support to Support Workers during shifts.
• Assist with the effective coordination of staff working within 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 care arrangements.
• Identify early warning signs of behavioural escalation and implement preventative strategies.
• Lead and support staff during incidents involving aggression, self-injury, absconding, property damage, or other high-risk situations.
• Promote de-escalation techniques and least restrictive practices at all times.
• Ensure any authorised physical intervention is carried out safely and in accordance with care plans, risk assessments, and organisational policies.
• Monitor staff practice and challenge unsafe or inconsistent approaches.
• Support post-incident reviews, debriefs, and learning opportunities.
• Complete and oversee accurate incident reports, behavioural observations, and daily records.
• Assist with the induction, mentoring, and development of new team members.
• Escalate significant concerns or changes in presentation to management and relevant professionals.
• Promote dignity, independence, choice, and inclusion for all individuals supported.
