Job summary

Copper Beech Care Home in Ridgewood, Uckfield is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead a team and deliver person-centred care for residents. You will manage day-to-day unit operations, ensure accurate medication issuing, review care plans and maintain records, and oversee shift handovers.

The role includes training and supervising new staff, building relationships with residents, families and external health professionals, and supporting residents with personal care duties.

Qualifications

  • NVQ3 in care required or in progress; employer support for completion.
  • Motivated and positive with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in care with willingness to make a real difference to residents.
  • Ability to support CQC responsibilities with clinical aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Care Assistants and run a care unit.
  • Issue medications, review care plans and maintain accurate records.

44 Hour Contract • Day/night Shifts (To Be Flexible) • £13.45 - £15.02 per hour depending on experience

Job Description

As a Senior Care Assistant you will lead a team of Care Assistants to deliver high-quality, person-centred care, supporting independence and honouring choice for our residents. You will manage day‑to‑day operations of your unit, ensure accurate medication issuing, care plan review and record keeping, and oversee shift handovers. Training, supervision and development of new staff will also be part of your role.

You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By
  • Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit
  • Responsible for issuing medication, reviewing care plans and accurate record keeping
  • Leading and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsibility for all shift handovers of the teams
  • Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supportedBuilding relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses
  • Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
  • Completed or working towards an NVQ3 in care (we will support completion if needed)
  • Motivated, positive, with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for compassionate care
  • Previous experience of the role, with the knowledge of its rewards and challenges, and a desire to make a real difference to people’s lives
  • Ability to support CQC responsibilities with clinical expertise
