Job summary

Ty LLandaff Care Home in Cardiff is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to guide and support the team in delivering safe, high quality, person‑centred care for our 69 residents. You will oversee shifts, keep care organised, administer medications, monitor wellbeing and maintain accurate records, while communicating with families and health professionals.

This role requires NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care, strong leadership and communication skills, and availability for alternate weekends.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (minimum).
• Medication administration training with competency is essential.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support the care team to deliver safe, high quality, person-centred care for residents.
• Oversee shifts, ensure care is well organised and delivered to a high standard.
• Medicate management and monitoring of residents' wellbeing; respond to changes as needed.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £13.71 per hour
• Contracted to 44 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
