Job summary

GKN Aerospace in the United Kingdom (East Cowes) seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (CAM) to lead NC programming development and global CAM processes. The role emphasizes ownership of CAM at Cowes, adherence to Zero Defect Manufacturing practices, and collaboration with multiple departments to drive production capability.

You will implement CAM programs, mentor teams, and push continuous improvement across aerospace manufacturing, including AFP/ATL and large-scale 5-axis projects,

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering with CAM focus.
• Proven experience with CAM programming and CATIA.
• Lean manufacturing mindset with continuous improvement.
• Able to collaborate across departments and coach others.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide local project technical oversight for NC programming solutions to complex problems.
• Implement the global process to create NC Programs, from original concept through to production.
• Develop NC Programming solutions for high degree of process capability, utilising the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
• Own the CAM Cowes BMS system and ensure documents reflect process used; periodically review and update.
• Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with HSE policies and standards.
• Provide technical expertise at a local project level in governance and deployment of manufacturing development for production within GKN Aerospace.
• Provide technical expertise to rapidly solve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality.
• Support the implementation of breakthrough Technologies in line with the Cowes Strategy including large scale 5 Axis & NDT machines and automated processes such as AFP/ATL.
• Break down technical problems to create products and add value through Zero Defects.
• Lead positive team relationships with internal and external customers and co-workers.
• Continuous improvement of production processes by Lean initiatives.
