Job summary

Based at East Cowes site, the Manufacturing Engineer (CAM) will provide NC programming support for Civil and Defence programmes, delivering NC programs and CAM simulations for 3/5-axis CNC, waterjet cutting, laser projection and related processes to manufacture composite aircraft components.

You will implement NC programs from concept to production, develop CAM solutions to maximise process capability with the ZDM tool suite, and ensure releases comply with GKN Cowes BMS procedures while

Qualifications

• Essential HNC qualification (or NVQ Level 3 in engineering) or equivalent with workplace experience.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing or similar industry.
• Knowledge of NC machine tools and automated manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Experience with MS Office.
• Desirable CAD/CAM experience with Catia V5 and Vericut.
• Knowledge of LEAN tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Utilise engineering and problem-solving skills to develop NC programs from concept to production.
• Develop NC programming solutions to maximise process capability using the company’s ZDM toolset.
• Ensure NC programs release complies with GKN Cowes BMS procedures.
• Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
• Provide technical input for manufacturing process development and integration.
• Offer specialist knowledge to production activities to improve quality and efficiency.
• Adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental policies and maintain safe working practices.
• Collaborate with internal customers to maintain positive relationships and continuously improve processes.
