Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Isembard in London is seeking a Senior Business Development Representative to open conversations with engineering-led companies in aerospace, defence, energy and robotics. You will qualify opportunities and translate them into actionable initiatives for factory teams.
As the first senior BDR, you will shape how we approach customers, collaborate with machinists and CAM programmers, and contribute to pricing discussions. This role is on-site at our Southwark factory with travel to customers.
Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defence, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the UK, US, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration.
Business development at Isembard is where the customer is an engineer and the pitch is a tolerance. You will open conversations with engineering-led companies in aerospace, defence, energy and robotics, qualify the work, and bring it to the factory teams who make it.
This is our first senior business development representative role, and the BDRs who join later will build on the approach you help set.
Identify and engage high-value customers in defined industrial sectors.
Run outreach to founders, CTOs, programme leads and procurement teams.
Qualify inbound RFQs, and check manufacturability with factory teams before making promises.
Lead early technical commercial conversations about drawings, tolerances, materials and lead times.
Support pricing, proposal preparation and contract negotiation.
Keep CRM and pipeline records disciplined and current.
Help write the outreach playbook the wider team will use.
An engineering background (mechanical preferred) or strong technical literacy.
Experience in business development, technical sales or a similar commercial role.
Comfort reading drawings and discussing tolerances, materials and lead times.
Structured, calm and resilient under pressure.
High standards, low ego and a bias towards action.
Exposure to aerospace, defence or another regulated sector.
Hands-on manufacturing or machining experience.
Selling technical products to engineering teams.
Frontline exposure to aerospace and defence manufacturing programmes.
Direct collaboration with machinists, CAM programmers and factory leaders.
A clear path into senior commercial leadership as the team grows.
Competitive salary and equity.
Location: On-site at our Southwark factory in London, with travel to customers.
