Isembard in London is seeking a Robotics / Mechatronics Engineer to design, build and integrate in-house hardware for our factory automation, starting with autonomous material movement on the shop floor.
You will work across CAD, embedded systems and software, write code for robotics (Python and C++), and help deploy modular systems across multiple sites on-site in Southwark, London.
Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defence, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the UK, US, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration.
Our factories run high-mix, small-batch work, and much of the automation on the market is built for long production runs. Our robotics team is building automation that fits how we work, aimed at the biggest bottlenecks on the shop floor and designed to be deployed across many sites.
As a Robotics / Mechatronics Engineer you will design, build and integrate in-house hardware, starting with autonomous material movement on the shop floor. The role spans CAD, embedded systems and software.
Design, build and integrate robotic and mechatronic systems for our factories, from concept and CAD to prototype and deployment.
Work across mechanical design, actuators, sensors, embedded electronics and communications hardware.
Write the software that runs your hardware and connects it to MasonOS.
Specify and integrate off-the-shelf automation, such as machine tending and cell automation, where that is the right answer.
Prototype and test on a live shop floor, designing for modularity so systems can be deployed at many sites.
Develop maintenance and reliability practices for systems in production.
Broad engineering ability across hardware, software and embedded systems.
Strong CAD skills.
Programming for robotics, for example Python or C++.
Hands‑on embedded experience with actuators and communications hardware. Self‑taught is fine.
A record of building and deploying real hardware outside the lab.
The breadth that comes from working in a startup or small team, rather than one narrow specialism.
Manufacturing automation.
Design for manufacture and GD&T.
Mobile robots, machine tending or pallet systems.
Shape robotics at Isembard at an early stage.
See your work running on a live factory floor.
Competitive salary and equity.
Location: On‑site at our Southwark factory in London.
