Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer for the Design Solutions Structures team in Salford. You will lead bridge design, assessment and maintenance projects within programme and budget constraints, aligning with national standards and CDM regulations.

The role offers a collaborative environment and opportunities to mentor junior staff. The position requires Chartered Engineer status or active progression toward it, with strong knowledge of design standards and health and safety practices

Qualifications

• Experience in bridge design standards and analysis.
• Experience managing projects to programme and budget constraints.
• Knowledge of National design standards and procedures.
• CDM Regulations health and safety knowledge.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce, develop and oversee bridge design, assessment and maintenance solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale.
• Develop and design solutions in accordance with National design standards and procedures.
• Produce and oversee scheme documents and reports.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM Regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Mentor and develop staff and report progress to clients.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Design Solutions Structures team based in Salford within the Highways sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Salford - Optimum House
Hours: 40 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

• Working towards (80% progression) or ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE, MIStructE or equivalent)
• Experienced in bridge design standards and analysis
• Skilled in managing and delivering projects to programme and budget constraints
• Knowledgeable about National design standards and procedures
• Committed to health and safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you'll be working within the Design Solutions Structures team, supporting them in delivering bridge design, assessment and maintenance solutions.

Your day to day will include:

• Producing, developing and overseeing bridge design, assessment and maintenance solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale
• Developing and designing solutions in accordance with National design standards and procedures
• Producing and overseeing scheme documents and reports
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations
• Contributing to regular reporting of progress to clients and assisting in the mentoring and development of staff
