Job summary

Kier Design is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team in Liverpool (Speke) or Norwich (Wymondham). Location options provide flexibility within a 40-hour work week.

As a senior, you'll produce and check calculations, drawings and models, coordinate with other disciplines, lead major building projects, and mentor engineers to support professional development.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification with a degree in Structural/Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or senior membership with a structural/ civil engineering institution.
• Knowledge of structural steelwork and reinforced concrete design to current European/ British standards.
• Experience designing different building structures within a multidisciplinary design team.
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.

Responsibilities

• Producing and checking structural design calculations, drawings, models, reports, specifications and schedules.
• Coordinating structural design information with Architecture and Building Services Engineering.
• Setting and implementing structural design strategies and monitoring progress toward sustainability targets.
• Acting as lead structural designer on significant building projects.
• Mentoring other Structural Engineers and Technicians within the team.

Job description

Are you…

• Professionally qualified with a BSc, MSc, BEng or MEng in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status CEng, Member, or Associate Member of Institution of Structural Engineers, or Institution of Civil Engineers
• Knowledgeable in structural steelwork and reinforced concrete design to current European/British Standards
• Experienced in designing different types of building structures within a multi-disciplinary design team environment

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll be working within the Structural Engineering team, supporting them in delivering excellent structural engineering project services to meet client needs.

Your day to day will include:

• Producing and checking structural design calculations, drawings, models, reports, specifications, and schedules
• Coordinating structural engineering design information with other technical disciplines such as Architecture and Building Services Engineering
• Setting and implementing structural concept design strategies and monitoring progress against sustainability and low carbon targets
• Acting as the lead structural designer on significant building structures design projects
• Mentoring other Structural Engineers and Technicians within the team as part of our commitment to professional development
