Job summary

The Open Targets collaboration at the Wellcome Sanger Institute is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician to lead analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data across projects focused on immune cell biology and reproductive tissues. You will design analytical workflows, troubleshoot, and interpret results to inform experimental design and discovery.

You will work within the Vento Lab as part of an interdisciplinary team, communicate findings to project leaders and collaborators, and help

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field with strong research background.
• In-depth experience in single-cell transcriptomics and full analytical workflow.
• Ability to align computational work with team scientific priorities.
• Strong grounding in molecular and cellular biology to interpret results.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and multiomics datasets.
• Explain analytical decisions with biological and computational evidence.
• Design biologically informed analytical approaches aligned with experiments.
• Develop innovative data analysis strategies beyond standard pipelines.
• Collaborate within the Vento Lab and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Organise developed code and generated data for reproducibility.
