Job summary

The Wellcome Sanger Institute, in collaboration with Open Targets, seeks a Senior Bioinformatician to lead analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data within the Vento Lab. You will troubleshoot complex pipelines, integrate multiomics data, and apply biologically informed methods to immune cell and reproductive tissue studies.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
• In-depth experience in single-cell transcriptomics across full analytical workflow.
• Ability to align computational work with team scientific priorities.
• Strong grounding in molecular and cellular biology with tissue context.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and multiomics datasets.
• Address technical artefacts and QC challenges in single-cell data.
• Design biologically informed analytical approaches aligned with experiments.
• Develop innovative data analysis strategies beyond standard pipelines.
• Collaborate within the Vento interdisciplinary team and communicate results.
