Job summary

The Wellcome Sanger Institute is seeking a highly motivated staff scientist to lead histology and spatial transcriptomics wet lab work on a fixed-term basis. You will lead sample preparation and processing for the group's histology and spatial transcriptomics pipelines, and embed in the Vento group to study human development using precious tissue and advanced imaging facilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology, Biomedical, or related field.
• Expertise in histology and histopathology.
• Expertise in image analysis tools.
• Experience delivering training.
• Proven track record leading projects (publications).

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily laboratory work for histology and spatial transcriptomics pipelines.
• Coordinate with the Vento team and provide histological expertise across Institute projects.
• Train team members in sample processing methods and review SOPs.
• Contribute to supervision of PhD students and postdocs; contribute to publications.
