Job summary

Wellcome Sanger Institute's Open Targets Vento Lab seeks a Senior Bioinformatician to lead analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomic data, including CRISPR datasets, with a focus on immune cell biology in human reproductive tissues and women's diseases. The role requires independence, critical thinking, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

You will drive analyses from sequencing to interpretation, ensuring alignment with experimental aims, and contribute to publications

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience with deep experience in single‑cell transcriptomics across the full analytical workflow.
• Strong ability to align computational work with team priorities and deliver timely results.
• Solid grounding in molecular and cellular biology to contextualise transcriptomic findings within experimental design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis and interpretation of large-scale single-cell and spatial transcriptomics datasets across multiple projects.
• Assess technical artefacts and QC challenges to justify analytical decisions.
• Design biologically informed analytical approaches and critically interpret results.
• Develop innovative data analysis strategies beyond standard pipelines to tackle complex questions.
• Collaborate within the Vento Lab and communicate results to project leaders and the wider community.
• Organise and document developed code and generated data.
