Job summary

ZigZag Global Ltd is recruiting a Senior Staff Engineer (Backend & Infrastructure) for a fully remote role within the UK. You will shape tech strategy, drive reliability, and lead backend and infra initiatives across a growing SaaS platform.

We value depth in cloud architecture, Ruby on Rails expertise, and a strong ability to collaborate across squads while ensuring scalable and secure systems for our post-purchase network.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud architecture in GCP.
• Strong Ruby on Rails expertise.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop a coherent technology strategy aligned with product priorities.
• Ensure architectural decisions support objectives of key initiatives.
• Maintain service reliability: incidents, SLIs/SLOs, recovery plans, observability.
• Implement QA and security practices on the backend.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure and optimize resources, especially during peak periods.
• Contribute to CI/CD, code reviews, and engineering processes to improve quality and security.
• Collaborate with squads to share knowledge and best practices.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to communicate technical constraints.
