Job summary

ZigZag Global Ltd is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer (Backend & Infrastructure) to lead the engineering effort across backend systems and cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on reliability, scalability, and shaping technology strategy as ZigZag unifies post-purchase and returns platforms.

You will drive best practices, set performance standards, and collaborate with squads to deliver robust, scalable services on GCP and related stacks.

Qualifications

• Experience in cloud architecture, especially GCP and at least one other cloud (AWS/Azure).
• Proven backend & infrastructure engineering expertise with scalable systems.
• Strong security and reliability focus in production environments.
• Fluent English communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop a cohesive technology strategy aligned with product priorities.
• Ensure architectural decisions support product objectives and scalability.
• Manage service reliability, incidents, SLAs, and recovery plans.
• Drive CI/CD, code reviews, and engineering processes to improve quality and security.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure optimization and cost-aware resource allocation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical constraints.
