Job summary

Client Server is recruiting a senior backend engineer to design and implement scalable services in Node.js/TypeScript. This remote UK role emphasizes robust APIs, microservices architecture, and strong collaboration with product and DevOps teams.

You will own complex systems, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to high-availability platform with a 99% uptime SLA. Experience with AWS, Docker, Kafka, and Terraform is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong backend software engineering with Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Good knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, and scalable systems
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• DevOps mindset with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins
• Terraform and containerisation with Docker; AWS cloud experience
• Ability to take ownership and mentor junior engineers
• Strong collaboration and communication with product/game/DevOps teams
• UK work authorization without visa restrictions

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-quality backend code using TypeScript and Node.js
• Ensure alignment with architectural standards and comprehensive test coverage
• Maintain backend performance and reliability with a target 99% uptime SLA
• Design and extend robust APIs and microservices for gameplay, user management, and CMS
• Collaborate with product and game teams to align features with backend architecture
• Work with DevOps to improve uptime, observability, and deployment reliability
• Take ownership of complex systems and address performance and scalability bottlenecks
