Job summary

HSBC is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to shape and run a global Kubernetes-based platform on AWS. You’ll work across DevOps pods, driving automation, governance and security in a highly regulated environment to enable thousands of developers to deploy business applications.

You will collaborate with Cloud Services, application teams and IT to deliver scalable, available services; participate in IaC, CI/CD and platform automation; and contribute to a culture of engineering

Qualifications

• Deep experience building and operating cloud platforms at scale.
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise and strong AWS knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with build, test, deploy, monitoring and alerting.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or equivalent.
• Container tooling including Docker, Helm and Istio or equivalent.
• CI/CD pipelines and platform automation experience.
• Security-focused design patterns in a regulated environment.
• Proficient in Agile Scrum and DevOps tools like Jira/Confluence.
• Ability to explain complex topics clearly and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering initiatives across a global DevOps team.
• Partner with stakeholders to meet governance and architecture needs.
• Shape the Kubernetes platform roadmap to support demand.
• Build and manage AWS cloud environments for deployments.
• Engineer solutions using Infrastructure as Code.
• Ensure operational and compliance activities close to closure.
• Provide quality assurance across delivery and embed best practices.
• Drive automation and engineering standards across the platform.
• Maintain high availability of the platform and core services.
