Job summary

Sention Technologies is seeking its first dedicated Applications Engineer to drive the technical customer journey from discovery through deployment and adoption. The role involves substantial travel (UK and international) and will help establish repeatable processes for delivering applications engineering work.

You will lead demonstrations, pilots, deployments and ongoing technical success, building procedures and documentation to scale the team as Sention grows.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of relevant experience combining engineering work with customer-facing roles.
• Degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, mechatronic, systems or control engineering, physics, or equivalent.
• Proven track record building, modifying, or commissioning physical systems or instrumentation.
• Experience delivering technical customer engagements (discovery, demonstrations, pilots, installations, training).
• Sound technical-commercial judgment: align technical work with customer value and commercial outcomes.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for engineers, operators and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery and define solution requirements for customers.
• Plan and execute demonstrations, evaluations and pilots of hardware and software.
• Lead deployment, installation, configuration, commissioning and handover of systems at customer sites.
• Be primary day‑to‑day technical contact for deployed customers and resolve complex issues.
• Develop repeatable applications engineering practices and documentation (procedures, templates, guidance).
