Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join a cross-functional Agile team. You will lead native Android development (Kotlin/Java) and collaborate with iOS, QA, design and BA colleagues on customer-facing projects.

As part of a hybrid role, you will work from home and London/Bracknell offices, visiting sites as needed. You’ll mentor peers, contribute to CI/CD and continually improve engineering practices while staying up to date with new technologies.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in native Android development (Kotlin/Java).
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing practices.
• Familiar with MVVM/MVP architectures and design patterns.
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and Swift/iOS.
• Exposure to AI tools to enhance development productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead Android development within a cross-functional Agile team.
• Collaborate with iOS engineers, QA, designers and business analysts on projects.
• Provide technical direction and assurance on complex IT projects.
• Support shaping of new projects and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
• Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and continuously improve engineering practices.
