Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking an AGV Subject Matter Expert at its Midlands Super Hub in Crick to lead automation projects and provide technical leadership across the site. The role focuses on garage-level fault diagnosis, system upgrades, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with suppliers, and drive innovative, safe automation solutions in a fast-paced environment. The position is fixed-term, full-time, 41 hours per week.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in electrical and mechanical is essential.
• Engineering leadership with systems knowledge is required.
• Experience leading and training teams of engineers.
• Experience with AGVs including integration and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of fleet management for AGV coordination and load control.
• Proficient with PLC systems: Siemens S7, SIMATIC, SIMOVE, CODESYS.
• Familiar with design tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, SCADA, CMMS.
• Strong focus on safety culture and risk management.
• Experience with safety standards and regulatory programs.
• Root cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
• Willingness to pursue PUWER and IOSH qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on complex automation challenges.
• Lead small AGV fleet modifications and system upgrades with safety in mind.
• Offer guidance and support to engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and technicians on best practices and safety.
• Drive process optimisation, fault finding, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to deliver compliant solutions.
