Southend on Sea City Council is seeking a dedicated SENDIASS Officer to support families of children and young people aged 0-25. This 12-month fixed-term, part-time role (22 hours over 3 days) includes face-to-face visits, phone and email advice, and casework on SEN support, statutory assessments, and mediation.

Hybrid working is available, with travel to nurseries, schools and community hubs. A driving licence is required; a strong SEND background and knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice

Formación

• Strong understanding of SEND and a passion for supporting families.
• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice (2015) and Children and Families Act (2014) beneficial.
• Experience with SEND processes in education or a Local Authority.
• Experience building relationships with parents, carers and pupils with SEND.
• Effective communication; impartiality when working with other services.
• Full and clean driving license.

Responsabilidades

• Provide tailored advice and support to families.
• Work face-to-face in nurseries, schools, colleges, groups and workshops; also by phone and email.
• Take ownership of casework for children/young people with SEND 0–25; cover SEN support, statutory processes, mediation and tribunals.
• Collaborate with other services to identify the right support and outcomes.
