Job summary

Polaris Children’s Services in Hampshire is seeking a SENDIASS Advisor to join the Hampshire SENDIASS team. You will provide day-to-day confidential, impartial information and support to parents, carers and young people on SEND related issues.

The role is field-based across children's homes, community settings and designated office locations with regular regional travel, 35 hours per week and a salary of £24,000 with progression to £26,000 after probation and IPSEA training.

Qualifications

• IPSEA SEN Law Training at Levels 1, 2 and 3 or a commitment to achieve within first year
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Personal or professional experience of SEND
• Basic knowledge of relevant legislation and policy (Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act 2010)
• Confident with Microsoft packages, databases and video conferencing
• Able to work independently and as part of a team to produce accurate records and follow processes under pressure

Responsibilities

• Answer Hampshire SENDIASS helplines via phone and email
• Listen to parents, carers and young people and provide information and advice
• Explain and refer to relevant SEN legislation and policy
• Analyse SEN assessments and professional reports for families
• Identify enquiries for case worker allocation
• Maintain accurate records and database entries, including call durations and topics
• Complete IPSEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 SEN Law training within the first year
• Build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders for positive outcomes
• Contribute to content and resources for SENDIASS websites and social media
