Prospero Teaching is seeking a SENDCo for a mainstream academy serving primary and secondary pupils in North Hertfordshire. A strong SEND team and emphasis on early identification of needs are highlighted. Training and support for the right candidate are available.

You may be an Assistant SENDCo or a classroom teacher expanding into SEND leadership; Qualified Teacher Status and substantial SEND experience are preferable.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and strong experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Practical knowledge of adapting teaching for different learning, communication and emotional needs.
• Understanding of SEND Code of Practice and its application in school.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
• Work with teachers to identify barriers to learning and agree practical classroom adaptations.
• Help develop and review individual support plans, including EHCPs.
• Coordinate reviews and maintain clear, accurate records of pupils' needs and progress.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Support teachers and teaching assistants with strategies they can use consistently.
• Review interventions and use progress evidence to improve provision.
