Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEND Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 student with SEMH and complex needs in Alnwick, Northumberland. This 15-hour-per-week role will primarily involve 1:1 tuition, ideally during school hours, delivered at the pupil's home or in a local learning space.

You will focus on rebuilding engagement with education, developing trust and resilience, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping the student prepare for their next steps.

SEND Specialist Tutor - SEMH & Complex Needs

Alnwick, Northumberland - 15 hours per week

Prospero Teaching is working with local SEND teams and schools in Alnwick to recruit a dedicated Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 student with complex SEN and SEMH needs.

The role will involve providing 1:1 tuition for 15 hours per week, ideally during school hours. The main focus will be on rebuilding engagement with education, developing trust and confidence, supporting emotional wellbeing, and preparing the student for their next steps.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and experienced in supporting young people with SEND, SEMH or complex needs. Experience in a school, tutoring, alternative provision or pastoral setting would be beneficial.

Contract/Position Details:

• Location - Alnwick
  Position - SEND Specialist Tutor (SEMH & Complex Needs)
  Type of work - Contract
  Start date - ASAP
  Setting - Student's home or local community setting (e.g. learning hub/library)
  Duration - Ongoing, until a suitable school placement is secured
  Contract type - Temporary
  Hours - 15 hours per week
  Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

  Ability to think outside the box and adapt sessions to maintain engagement

To be eligible for this role, the SEND Specialist Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
  Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  Be able to provide references covering the last two years
