Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEND Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 student with SEMH and complex needs in Alnwick, Northumberland. This 15-hour-per-week role will primarily involve 1:1 tuition, ideally during school hours, delivered at the pupil's home or in a local learning space.

You will focus on rebuilding engagement with education, developing trust and resilience, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping the student prepare for their next steps.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with complex SEND and SEMH needs.
• Background in teaching, tutoring, or support work.
• Patient, resilient, and creative approach to learning.

Responsibilities

• Build a positive and trusting relationship to support engagement in learning.
• Deliver tailored, engagement-focused sessions for a Year 11 learner.
• Support SEMH development, helping regulate emotions and build resilience.
• Provide guidance and structure during a key stage and transition planning.
• Promote confidence, independence, and life skills through structured activities.
• Create a calm, consistent, and safe learning environment.
• Monitor and assess progress, providing clear feedback to families and professionals.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and complete weekly reports.
