Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking two SEND Teaching Assistants for Herringthorpe Infant School in Rotherham. Temporary posts to start ASAP to 31 August 2027, 30 hours per week, 8.30am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday.

The role supports the educational, personal, social and emotional development of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, under the guidance of the SENCO/Class Teacher. Previous TA experience and a TA qualification are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children and Teaching Assistant qualification are required.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills, flexibility and adaptability.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and use own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the educational and personal, social and emotional development of pupils.
• Attend to pupils’ care and welfare needs and support learning under supervision.
• Work under the direction of the SENCO/Class Teacher or HLTA to enable access to learning.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a enthusiastic, experienced, committed and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated staff team.

The main purpose of the roles is to contribute to the educational needs and personal, social and emotional development of all children including those with special educational needs. Attend to all pupils’ care and welfare needs. Work under the direction and instruction of the SENCO/Class Teacher or Higher Level Teaching Assistants to enable access to learning for all pupils and provide general support in the management of pupils within school environment.

You should have good numeracy and literacy skills, be flexible and adaptable, willing to work as a team and use own initiative. Previous experience of working with children and Teaching Assistant qualification are required.
