Just Teachers Ltd in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school team from September. This is a full-time, long-term supply role based in Wakefield, supporting three pupils 1:1 at different times.

The children have SEMH needs and require consistent support to access learning and regulate emotions within a welcoming, inclusive school environment that promotes positive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of supporting children with SEMH needs.
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management strategies and SEMH support approaches.
  • Two education or school-based references.
  • Experience working within a primary or secondary school setting.
  • Team Teach training would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviours, including defiance, verbal outbursts and occasional physical behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for three pupils with SEMH needs throughout the school day.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote wellbeing and learning.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school team from September. This is a full-time, long-term supply position based in Wakefield, working with three pupils on a 1:1 basis at different points throughout the school day. The children have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and require consistent support to help them access learning and regulate their emotions. The school is a welcoming and inclusive environment with a strong commitment to supporting every child to achieve their full potential and fostering positive relationships across the school community.
