Job summary

PK Education is seeking a resilient 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil in a small specialist provision in Wakefield. The role focuses on regulating emotions, building relationships, and enabling access to learning within SEMH settings.

Experience with de-escalation, trauma-informed practice or Team Teach is advantageous. Salary is competitive and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEMH settings, PRUs, Alternative Provision or behaviour support roles.
• Ability to de-escalate and use regulation strategies.
• Must be calm, patient and emotionally resilient with ability to establish boundaries while nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to regulate pupil's emotions and behaviour.
• Help pupil access the KS2 curriculum at an appropriate level.
• Develop positive and trusting relationships with the pupil.
• Support engagement with learning and build confidence, resilience and independence.
• Work towards individual EHCP outcomes.

Specialist SEMH Provision

PK Education are recruiting for a resilient, nurturing and experienced 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil within a small specialist provision in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who understands that behaviour can often be a form of communication.

The role will involve providing consistent 1:1 support to help the pupil:

• Regulate their emotions and behaviour
• Develop positive and trusting relationships
• Engage successfully with learning
• Access the KS2 curriculum at an appropriate level
• Develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Work towards individual EHCP outcomes

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience within SEMH settings, PRUs, Alternative Provision, specialist schools or behaviour support roles.

You will need to be calm, patient and emotionally resilient, with the ability to establish clear boundaries while maintaining a nurturing and consistent approach.

Experience of de-escalation, emotional regulation strategies, trauma-informed practice or Team Teach/positive handling would be highly advantageous
