Job summary

Rochdale Council invites applications for a Teaching Assistant 1+ (Personal Care). This temporary post is 27.5 hours per week, term time pattern, with commencing January 2027. The salary range is £16,282 to £16,540 reflecting Grade 3 SCP 5–6.

• Experience supporting pupils with personal care and SEND.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily intimate and personal care, ensuring dignity, comfort, and respect at all times.
• Supporting pupils with their personal hygiene routines, offering encouragement and promoting independence wherever possible.
• Acting as a responsible adult, assisting with the supervision, safety, wellbeing, and personal care of individuals or small groups under the guidance of teaching or senior staff.
• Provide classroom cover as a Teaching Assistant when required, supporting learners, preparing resources, and contributing to a positive, productive learning environment.
• Demonstrating a strong commitment to safeguarding and to promoting the welfare of children and young people with SEND.
