Job summary

Smile Education in Rochdale is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to support in a primary school. The role is full time, permanent, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30, with a strong, welcoming team and a good Ofsted rating.

You will work with children with additional needs, helping them develop independence and confidence, maintain effective communication with the class teacher and families, and create a safe, positive learning environment. DBS check required or underway.

Qualifications

• DBS up to date on the DBS update service or willing to apply for a new one.
• Teaching assistant qualification or health and social care level 2 or 3.
• Experience working with SEN children on 1:1 basis or small groups.
• Experience with primary or secondary school children.

Responsibilities

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.
