Job summary

Five Education is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND in Yate, South Gloucestershire. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs, including Autism and other difficulties, working closely with teachers and the SENDCo to promote progress and wellbeing.

Applicants should have experience with SEND, a calm, nurturing approach, strong communication, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly Autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties, and physical disabilities.
• Calm, flexible and nurturing approach to supporting students with complex needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Genuine passion for inclusion and helping learners thrive.
• Resilience, patience and proactive attitude towards behaviour support and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support in line with EHCP targets.
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to various learning styles.
• Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and independence.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and SENDCo to implement effective support strategies.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
• Supervise students during breaks and lunch times to ensure wellbeing.
