Job summary

Kirklees College is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support learners at Springfield and Waterfront campus. The role involves planning, delivering learning activities in and out of the classroom with tutor support, and identifying SEND needs through initial assessments.

Ideally you will hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one and have experience in a post-16 environment with maths and English/ESOL. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and impact for audits.
  • Monitor attendance, progress and levels of support for High Needs/SEND students.

£26,966-£27,566 (pro rata)

Hours and Weks per Year:

30 hrs over 38 weeks

Your key responsibilities as a teaching Assistant will be planning, preparing and delivering learning activities both within the classroom and outside of the academic learning environment with some support from tutors. You will be key in identifying individual SEND needs through initial assessments and completing inclusion plans for others to follow. Maintaining accurate records of interventions and impact for audit compliance.

Your key responsibilities will be ensuring all students have had an assessment of needs, monitoring the quality of the Inclusion plans, working closely with the curriculum teams to monitor attendance, progress and levels of support for our High Needs/SEND students to ensure achievement and aspirational progression.

Ideally you will hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one and have previous experience of working in a post 16 environment with adult students around maths & English/ESOL It is important that you’re able to communicate effectively, encourage high aspirations, be able to manage change and work with other areas of the college to work towards a whole college Inclusion approach and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
