Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Northampton. This role supports pupils with complex needs, assisting with learning, communication and social development to help each child thrive within a caring classroom environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and support staff to deliver tailored support and promote independence, resilience and positive behaviour in a nurturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with children or young people with SEND or complex needs.
  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Passion for supporting children to reach their full potential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Transferable experience from care, support work, healthcare, youth work, or similar settings.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
  • Helping children to develop independence and confidence.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural regulation.
  • Following individual education and support plans.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Creating a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment.

Are you a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs?

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Northampton that is looking for a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have complex needs, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of complex needs. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to ensure every child receives the care, encouragement and educational support they need to thrive.

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
  • Helping children to develop independence and confidence.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural regulation.
