Job summary

Teach Plus in Maidstone is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a full-time role. You will work with teachers and the SEND team to provide one-to-one and small group interventions, helping pupils access learning and achieve EHCP targets.

The role focuses on ASC, ADHD, PMLD and other complex needs, fostering positive behaviour, independence, and inclusive learning within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
• DBS checked (Enhanced DBS registered on Update Service).
• Right to work in the UK and previous education setting exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support and deliver small group interventions.
• Support pupils with ASC, complex needs, and learning disabilities.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Adapt learning resources to meet EHCP targets.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and support staff.
• Encourage pupils' independence, confidence and social development.

Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs.

• Providing one-to-one support and delivering small group interventions
• Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex needs, and learning disabilities
• Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
• Adapting learning resources to meet individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
• Supporting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and communication development
• Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and wider support staff
• Encouraging pupils' independence, confidence, and social development

You

• Previous experience working within education, SEND support, care, or a similar support role
• Knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or other complex needs (desirable)
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• The right to work in the UK
