Job summary

The Supply Register, in partnership with Lightcliffe Academy, invites applications for SEND Teaching Assistants to support students with additional needs on a long-term basis at Lightcliffe Academy in Halifax. Opportunities available immediately and from September 2026.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
  • A passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and inspire confidence in young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEND both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning and intervention activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students achieve learning goals.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and academic development.

Job Role: SEND Teaching Assistant.

Location: Lightcliffe Academy, Halifax.

Contract type: Long Term contract.

Start Date: September 2026 or opportunities available ASAP.

The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with Lightcliffe Academy and is seeking caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to support students across the school on a long-term basis, with opportunities available immediately and from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school environment, working closely with students who require additional support to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Whether you're an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or have transferable experience supporting children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.

Your Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning and intervention activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students achieve their learning goals.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and academic development.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
  • A passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and inspire confidence in young people.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
