Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for Lightcliffe Academy in Halifax. This long-term contract role starts September 2026 (or ASAP) and offers the chance to make a lasting impact in SEND education within a supportive secondary school.

You will support students with SEND in and out of the classroom, work with teachers on tailored learning activities, provide 1:1 and small group support, and help foster an inclusive, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or SEND.
• Passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
• Ability to build relationships and inspire confidence.

Your Role

• Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) both in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning and intervention activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students achieve their learning goals.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement.
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Support students with social, emotional, and academic development.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
• A passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
• The ability to build strong relationships and inspire confidence in young people.
• A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
