Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking an SEN Teacher to support pupils with SEMH in a specialist setting in Sutton Coldfield. You will deliver engaging lessons, manage behaviour, and help pupils reach their full potential.

Applicants must have QTS, at least 6 months SEN/SEMH experience, enhanced DBS, and be prepared to provide two years of references. This is a contract position starting 1 September 2026, with PAYE or Umbrella arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
  • At least 6 months experience in SEN or SEMH setting.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS (Child or Child & Adult) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • References covering the previous 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Develop positive relationships that encourage engagement and learning.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other professionals.

The Role

You will be working within a specialist setting, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs alongside associated behavioural challenges. This role suits a resilient and empathetic teacher, able to create a calm, structured learning environment and motivate pupils in need of additional support to reach their full potential.
