Do you have experience supporting young people with additional needs?

Are you a teacher with experience across the Early Years or Primary Curriculum?

TeacherActive is proud to partner with a fantastic SEND school for complex needs in Oxford. We are looking for Class Teacher who has experience within SEND schools or roles. This is an exciting role, and a chance to be part of something special, changing the lives of vulnerable young people, whilst working in a beautiful setting, with a huge outdoor space for exploration through the senses and play. The schools boasts numerous sensory rooms, and works with the students to enable their communication and sense of individuality, where you will support in giving them a voice.

You will report to the Assistant or Deputy Principal, based in the 6th form class primarily, (ages 16-19), however due to the complex needs of the young people (ASD, Non-Verbal) you will be working within the Early Years framework, due to their cognition and learning ages. A teacher with experience of delivering a Primary or EYFS curriculum is ideal, or a Secondary Teacher with experience of working with a disabiity cohort. You will be following the schools bespoke curriculum framework, while line managing teaching support staff, providing effective communication and guidance surrounding lesson requirements.

About you

One of the schools main core values is compassion, which you will need to demonstrate in line with the schools compassionate ethos, and you will be able to implement strategies for raising achievement. Some learners are very active, but also vulnerable if left alone, and others can behave in a way thatg may be challenging to others, therefore you will be responsible for teaching learners safe and effective ways of communicating their needs, there may be times where there are physical challenges present or reluctance to engage, therefore you will need to be relatively physically able to carry out the duties of the role. MacIntyre Academies will, where possible, look to make reasonable adjustments to comply with the Equality Act 2010.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:
  • QTS
  • Experience working with children and young people with additional needs, specifically ASD and associated complex needs
  • Experience supporting children through therapeutic practices
  • Be comfortable with personal care, the support staff will take this responsibility on primarily, however you will need to be comfortable doing this if the need arises
In return for the above, you can expect to receive:
  • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to help you with our quick and easy onboarding process
  • An exciting, innovative curriculum
  • Purposeful CPD opportunities

Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you’re paying the right level of TAX and National Insurance and there’s no messing around with admin charges coming out of your hard-earned cash.
