Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is recruiting a KS4 SEND Teacher for a full-time, long-term role in South London to support non-verbal learners with complex needs and sensory challenges.

You will plan highly differentiated lessons, use AAC and other strategies, and collaborate with Teaching Assistants to create meaningful, accessible experiences tailored to each pupil’s EHCP targets and personal outcomes.

Are you a passionate SEND Teacher looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference every single day?

TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced and compassionate KS4 SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in South London for an immediate start.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting KS4 pupils who are non-verbal and have complex learning, communication and sensory needs.

This is much more than delivering traditional classroom lessons. You will create meaningful, accessible learning experiences tailored to each young person's individual needs, communication style and stage of development.

The Role

As the KS4 Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated and engaging learning
• Support non-verbal pupils with complex SEND and sensory needs
• Use a range of communication strategies, including visual and alternative communication methods
• Create a calm, structured and sensory-aware learning environment
• Work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants and other professionals
• Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence and life skills
• Adapt learning around individual EHCP targets and personal outcomes
• Celebrate progress in all its forms – whether academic, social, emotional or developmental

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Has experience working with pupils with SEND and complex needs
• Is confident supporting non-verbal learners
• Understands the importance of sensory regulation and individualised learning
• Is patient, creative, resilient and adaptable
• Can build strong relationships with pupils through consistency and trust
• Is passionate about giving young people with complex SEND the opportunity to reach their individual potential

Experience with PMLD, SLD, Autism, AAC, PECS, Makaton, sensory learning or complex communication needs would be highly desirable.
