TeacherActive are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a welcoming specialist SEND school in Sutton, South London. You will plan differentiated lessons for pupils with Autism, SLD and PMLD, and develop individualised learning programmes to support academic, social and emotional development.

You will support EHCPs, monitor progress and contribute to annual reviews, while working with a multidisciplinary team to foster communication, independence and essential life skills.

Qualifications

• QTS Essential.
• Recent classroom teaching experience required.
• Knowledge of Autism, SLD and/or PMLD advantageous.
• Experience in a specialist SEND setting preferred.

Responsabilités

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with Autism, SLD and PMLD.
• Create individualised learning programmes supporting academic, social and emotional development.
• Support EHCPs, monitor progress and participate in annual reviews.
• Develop communication, independence, literacy, numeracy and life skills.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, SLT, OT and PT.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies and support regulation.

The school supports children and young people aged 3-19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism, severe and complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory needs and communication difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate SEND Teacher to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, helping pupils develop their communication, independence, emotional regulation and essential life skills.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with Autism, PMLD, SLD and complex learning needs.
• Creating individualised learning programmes that support academic, social and emotional development.
• Supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), monitoring progress and contributing to annual reviews.
• Developing communication, independence, literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.
• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
• Implementing positive behaviour support strategies and helping pupils develop emotional and sensory regulation.
• Assessing and recording pupil progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for development.
• Leading and supporting classroom staff to ensure a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Building strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.

The Ideal SEND Teacher Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential.
• Recent and successful classroom teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of teaching strategies for pupils with Autism, SLD and/or PMLD.
• Previous experience working within a specialist SEND school (desirable).
• Experience adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning needs.
• A good understanding of EHCPs, safeguarding and positive behaviour support.
• Excellent communication, classroom management and organisational skills.
• A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach to teaching.
• A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
