TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in South London, supporting autistic learners aged 3–19 with PMLD, SLD and complex needs. The role is full-time and long-term, with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, regulation and emotional wellbeing.

You will plan highly differentiated lessons, develop communication skills, and work with Therapists and support staff to meet EHCP targets, with emphasis on sensory approaches and inclusive teaching

Competenze

• QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, ASD and complex SEND.
• Experience in a specialist school environment.
• Strong knowledge of sensory curriculum approaches and intensive interaction.
• Experience using communication-focused teaching strategies.
• Knowledge of AAC and alternative communication methods.
• Experience supporting pupils with physical disabilities and complex medical needs.
• Understanding EHCPs and personalised learning.

TeacherActive is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist school supporting autistic learners aged 3 19.

The school supports pupils who experience multiple and complex barriers to learning and may require significant levels of individualised support. Many pupils also have severe learning difficulties, sensory processing needs, physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who understands that progress within a complex SEND setting can look very different for every learner and who can create meaningful learning opportunities centred around communication, independence, regulation and emotional wellbeing.

The successful SEND Teacher will:

• Plan and deliver engaging and highly differentiated lessons for pupils with PMLD, SLD, Autism and complex SEND




• Develop pupils' communication, independence, sensory regulation, social interaction and physical development




• Deliver sensory and communication-focused learning tailored to individual needs

The ideal candidate will have:

• QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification




• Previous experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, ASD and complex SEND




• Experience working within a special school environment




• Strong knowledge of sensory curriculum approaches and intensive interaction




• Experience using communication-focused teaching strategies




• Knowledge of AAC and alternative communication methods




• Experience supporting pupils with physical disabilities and complex medical needs




• A strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning




• A compassionate, patient and adaptable approach




• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
