Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join a specialist education provision in King's Cross, Central London, on a permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.

You will work with Teaching Assistants and SEND specialists to monitor progress, support EHCP targets and create a safe, inclusive learning environment while building pupils' confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in specialist settings.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons, building positive relationships and helping pupils develop the confidence, independence and skills needed to succeed.

The successful SEND Teacher will:

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other complex educational needs.
• Deliver personalised learning programmes within small classroom settings.
• Monitor pupil progress and support individual EHCP targets.
• Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEND specialists and senior leaders.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant recognised teaching qualification.
• Previous experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a specialist school or alternative provision.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Knowledge of differentiated teaching and individual learning plans.
• An understanding of trauma-informed approaches and SEMH needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, adaptable and resilient approach to teaching.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
