Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced and compassionate KS4 SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in South London for an immediate start.

This full-time, long-term role supports KS4 pupils who are non-verbal and have complex learning, communication and sensory needs, delivering meaningful, tailored lessons.

You'll collaborate with Teaching Assistants and professionals to create a calm, structured learning environment and help pupils achieve communication, independence and life skills.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience working with pupils with SEND and complex needs.
• Experience supporting non-verbal learners and using alternative communication methods.
• Understanding of sensory regulation and individualised learning approaches.

Location: South London

TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced and compassionate KS4 SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in South London for an immediate start.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting KS4 pupils who are non-verbal and have complex learning, communication and sensory needs.

This is much more than delivering traditional classroom lessons. You will create meaningful, accessible learning experiences tailored to each young person's individual needs, communication style and stage of development.

The Role

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated and engaging learning
• Support non-verbal pupils with complex SEND and sensory needs
• Use a range of communication strategies, including visual and alternative communication methods
• Create a calm, structured and sensory-aware learning environment
• Work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants and other professionals
• Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence and life skills
• Adapt learning around individual EHCP targets and personal outcomes
• Celebrate progress in all its forms – whether academic, social, emotional or developmental

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Has experience working with pupils with SEND and complex needs
• Is confident supporting non-verbal learners
• Understands the importance of sensory regulation and individualised learning
• Is patient, creative, resilient and adaptable
• Can build strong relationships with pupils through consistency and trust
• Is passionate about giving young people with complex SEND the opportunity to reach their individual potential
• Experience with PMLD, SLD, Autism, AAC, PECS, Makaton, sensory learning or complex communication needs would be highly desirable.
