Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Teacher for a London-based role working with students aged 12–16 in a specialist setting. Immediate/ASAP start with a daily rate of £215 per day. The role focuses on supporting SEMH needs, building relationships and helping learners re-engage with education.

You will plan tailored lessons, manage behaviour, and collaborate with support staff while following EHCPs and safeguarding procedures to ensure safe, inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs.
• Holds QTS/QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' needs and abilities.
• Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
• Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and SEND needs.
• Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations within the classroom.
• Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe learning environment.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, SEND professionals and pastoral staff.
• Support students academically, socially and emotionally, helping them develop confidence and independence.
• Follow individual EHCPs, behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures.

Are you an experienced SEND Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a confident, resilient and engaging SEND Teacher to work with students aged 12–16 in a specialist education setting in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who thrives on building positive relationships and helping young people re-engage with education.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs and abilities.
• Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
• Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and SEND needs.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience teaching or supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs.

• Is calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships with students aged 12–16.
• Can adapt lessons for students working at different academic levels.
• Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to behaviour.
• Is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
• Holds QTS/QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification.
• Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
